New developments within a short walk of the beach.
New-build homes where the developer puts the beach within fifteen minutes on foot, or within a kilometre. Most are in the towns themselves rather than on the hills behind them.
Most new building on the coast is on the slopes behind the A-7, where the land is cheaper and the views are better. A new home you can walk to the beach from is rarer, and it is usually in a town: Fuengirola, Torremolinos, Estepona, San Pedro, the seafront districts of Málaga and the eastern towns.
The walking times here are the developers’ own figures, as recorded on each development’s page. I check them on the ground before I recommend a new development, because a flat ten minutes along a promenade and a steep ten minutes up from the beach are not the same walk.
